Awakening To Better Beauty Event

Awakening to Better Beauty is an annual program that The Beauty Barn puts on. This day is a complementary day of spa services, pampering & Keepsake Photoshoot for women in our local community going through cancer treatment.

We work with the nurses in the Brantford General Hospital Oncology Department and our community to Nominate these women who are so deserving of a little me time.

For us the day consists of focusing on safer products & services geared towards feel good service’s approved by Oncology Aesthetics Training International.
The day includes Massage, Hair & Wig styling, Makeup, Nail Polish, a variety of different treats and beverages and the best part… once the women have finished indulging the women are given an opportunity to have a professional photographer do an outdoor keepsake photo session. They are invited to have the photos taken solo or invite A loved one to be in the photo with them.

As they get ready to leave the event they are taken into the gift bag area where they can receive a gift bag filled with donations from loving like minded business.

I am an oncology aesthetician who was one of the first groups to be trained in Ontario when starting this training I was able to see the effects these service’s were for people in treatment. It’s important to have safer products and services available for anyone with immune compromised systems.

Most times our medical system only treats the sickness. But in my opinion there is a tiny missing part of healing that could offer so much to a client. When we look at self care & nearly living there is a key to treating the whole person. We want to feed there sole emotionally, internally & externally. 

It’s in my opinion that a mind, body experience could allow these women to mentally step away from their sickness for a brief moment to enjoy the simple the pleasures while simultaneously feeling safe in the hands of experts in their field.

I would love to see all estheticians embrace this modality so we can be conscious of the needs of the clients we’re treating and how we’re treating them. I would love to see this event hosted globally by other clean spas and oncology estheticians.
