Cosmetic treatment is an excellent treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. As we age fine lines and wrinkles can give us the appearance of looking tired or angry and make us look older than we feel. By injecting a small amount of Botox or Dysport into specific muscle within the face and neck, the muscles relax and soften.
Botox , Xeomin and Dysport block the signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing the muscles to relax. Those muscles that have been injected can no longer contract or contract to the degree they did before being injected. The effects of this treatment are temporary and typically last anywhere from three and four months, at which point the wrinkles and lines gradually return and can be reinjected. With repeat treatments fine lines and wrinkles are likely to become less severe as the muscles become conditioned to relaxing.
Areas commonly treated include the forehead lines, frown lines between the eyes (commonly referred to as “the elevens”) and the fine lines around the eyes (commonly referred to as “crow’s feet”). The results begin to appear within three to five days for Dysport and five to seven days with Botox. It may take up to fourteen full days to see the full effect of the treatment.
